Leon E. St. Clair, 97, formerly of King Ferry, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 at the Northwoods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Moravia.
Leon was born on June 4, 1927 in Limestone Township, PA., a son of the late Jesse and Mary (Bitler) St. Clair. A resident of Southern Cayuga County for most of his life, he raised pigs and farmed for many years with Bernard & Eleanor Keim and their successors at the McGarr Farm in King Ferry.
Leon was past Master of the Five Corners Grange and was also active in Grange activities at the county, state and national levels. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry.
He was predeceased in 2020 by his wife of 45 years, Helen Betty (White) St. Clair; and also by his brothers: Jesse, Jr., Lloyd, Hower, Larue, Homer, and Dale St. Clair.
He is survived by his nieces: Melanie Quinn (Kevin), Terry Pfeiffer (Jeff), Brenda Streeter, Heidi VanOstrand (Rick), all in NYS, & Kathy Spencer (Ken), of UT; a nephew, Bryan St. Clair (Sandy), in NYS; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14 at the King Ferry Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM on September 14, preceding the service. Interment for Leon and Helen will immediately follow the memorial at Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville, with a reception thereafter at the King Ferry Fire Station.
