Gary Michael Mitchell, 71, passed away at home on July 11th, 2023.

Born on November 21st, 1951, Gary was the oldest of seven kids. He is survived by his five sisters (Terry, Darlene, Debbie, Denise, Tammy) and one brother (Chip). Gary is also survived by his four children (Cameron, Shawn, Michael, and Rachel). He spent the last few years of his life living with his oldest son, Cameron, and his dog, Bean, who he loved very much. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gary was a lifelong electrician, and most recently was employed with Brines Mechanics as a technician. When Gary wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He could be found riding his motorcycle, playing Texas Hold ‘em, canoeing, or camping. He and his lifetime friend, Lee VanBenSchoten, whom he is also survived by, loved to play chess together, had honey bees, and made wine.

A graveside interment service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends will gather afterwards at the Cobblestone to celebrate Gary’s life.  Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Groton.
