Douglas A. Davis

Douglas A. Davis, 82, of Genoa, passed away on November 29, 2024 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

Doug was born on February 9, 1942 in Norwich, a son of the late Leon and Edith (Brown) Davis. He grew up in Smyrna and had been a resident of the Genoa area for the past 60 years. Doug worked his career in farming and construction, retiring after three decades with Northland Associates.

He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing, and in earlier years, he volunteered with the Smyrna Fire Department and Southern Cayuga Instant Aid Ambulance. He was a longtime member of the Groton Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his children: Mark Davis (Becky), of Moravia, Shannon Davis, of Auburn, Jody Davis (Jennifer), of Montour Falls, and Heather White (Dave) of King Ferry; grandchildren: Zachary Davis, Benjamin Davis and his partner, Sarah Albro, Johnathan White and fiancee, JoAnne Hussey, Steven White, and Brianna White; a brother, Chester Davis, of Smyrna; a sister, Jane Palmiter (Whitney), of Sherburne; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude "Judy" (Reeves) Davis in 2019, and by his brother and sisters-in-law, Warren and Joan Davis and Jean Davis. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Groton Assembly of God Church, 701 S. Main St., Groton, with Rev. Sam Neno officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, preceding the service. Interment will be in Genoa Rural Cemetery in the spring.
