Dorothy L. Negley

Dorothy L. Negley, 98, passed away peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center on December 20, 2024.

Dorothy was born April 6, 1926 in Meadville, PA, a daughter of the late Arnold and Willa (Messerall) Jones. She attended Practical Bible Training School in Binghamton, NY where she met her late husband Melvin Negley, married for 27 years having 3 children. She loved her family and loved her Lord and Savior, serving in various roles in churches and as a pastor’s wife. In her younger years, the family resided in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania where she volunteered her time and talents within the ministries of Child Evangelism Fellowship. In the early to mid 1970’s her journey in life relocated her to Ithaca, NY where she worked as a secretary for the Electrical Engineering Department at Cornell University. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a devoted member of their bell choir and loved playing the bells during the Christmas season.

She is survived by her children, Randy Negley, of Locke, Darrell Negley (Robin), of Freeville, and Lorene Ley (Herb), of WV; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Alice Jones; her sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Gerald Mosteller; daughter-in-law, Dixie (Addy) Negley; and her former husband, Melvin H. Negley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 28 at West Groton Bible Church, with Pastor Elijah Beltz and Pastor Chip Wood officiating. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM on Saturday, preceding the funeral service. Interment will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke.
